Immersive Holiday Exhibits Near Clarendon

light show at meadowlark

Clarendon is full of festive cheer throughout the month of December, so if you’re lucky enough to live in a Clarendon apartment, you should take advantage of all the area has to offer. The local stores start pumping out holiday tunes to get shoppers in the Christmas spirit and wreaths and twinkling lights adorn homes throughout the neighborhood.

Beyond the expected holiday activities like tree lighting ceremonies and holiday carolers, there are some incredible immersive exhibits for locals and guests to enjoy. Check out a few of our favorites.

Ice Maze in City Center

Every year, the City Center BID puts together an amazing holiday display for visitors to enjoy. Previous exhibits have included a giant igloo constructed out of frozen blocks of ice as well as miniature ice sculptures of DC’s most famous monuments. This year, they are constructing a giant ice maze for visitors to wander and explore. The maze will be open the weekend of December 13th-15th with staggered entrances based on turnout.

Georgetown Glow

Take the metro from Clarendon east towards Rosslyn and walk across Key Bridge to arrive at the start of Georgetown Glow. Throughout the month of December, follow the map to check out the unique light displays throughout the shopping district. Visitors can see all 11 structures outdoors before popping into one of the local coffee shops for a hot chocolate to warm up!

Winter Walk of Lights at Meadowlark Gardens

Kids and grown ups alike will be enchanted by the elaborate holiday light display at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna. The team at Meadowlark used millions of LED lights to create various animal formations. Look for the fish leaping out of the water, the geese flying south for winter, and a slithery snake! There’s also a light up Christmas tree that glows brighter to the sound of your favorite Christmas carols. At the end of the half mile lit-up forest walk, there is hot chocolate, hot cider, and s’more making kits so you can warm up over the fire pit.

Lyon Place residents are truly in the center of everything. Hop on the metro or take a quick Uber to any one of these amazing immersive holiday displays and you’ll instantly find yourself in the true Christmas spirit!
