5 Pet Friendly Spots in Clarendon

Lyon Place is an extremely pet friendly community. We offer doggie treats at the front desk, cool bowls of water just outside the front door for thirsty pups, easy ‘in-and-out’ access for midday dog walkers, and even host pet drives to raise money for local shelters. Our entire staff gets to know the residents’ furry friends nearly as well as the humans!

But it’s not just the Lyon Place complex that’s welcoming to pets, the entire Clarendon community is filled with businesses that support a pet-centric lifestyle. This is an additional perk for our residents, because it means their pups can accompany them to weekend patio brunches, local bars, and even the occasional retail store.

Here are a couple of our favorite spots that welcome your furry friends on the patio!

Bayou Bakery

This popular corner bakery offers classic southern comfort food along with more traditional breakfast fare like coffee and pastries. Pups are welcome to hang out on the patio with you any time of day while you sip a latte, savor the famous beignets, or enjoy Louisiana classics like jambalaya or gumbo. You’ll also find bowls of water for your pup and, most days, you can find some special dog treats inside behind the counter.

Liberty Tavern

Liberty Tavern is a Clarendon institution! The menu offers everything from pizza, to short ribs, to octopus and your pup is welcome to join you at any of the front sidewalk tables. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner and offers a tasty weekend brunch.

Northside Social

There’s no denying that this bakery, bar, and cafe has one of the most popular patios in Arlington. Northside Social is considered the primo pet spot in the neighborhood. The fact that it opens early in the morning means your furry friend can accompany you there right after their early morning walk. Water bowls are available and pets are allowed anywhere on the patio.

South Block Juice Co

Tucked behind the main stretch just two blocks from the metro, South Block has a small patio that makes it perfect for pets and their owners. Grab an acai bowl or a fruit smoothie and soak in the sunshine outside with your furry friend tucked underneath the table.

Whitlow’s on Wilson

Whitlow’s is a dog-friendly neighborhood bar that serves typical pub fare like nachos, wings, pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, and fried chicken. The pub is always bustling on the weekends and is open 11am to 2am on weekdays and 9am to 2am Saturdays and Sundays.

The residents of Lyon Place are located just a short walk from all of these pet-friendly spots and love bringing their furry friends to their favorite neighborhood joints.
